About TrafficChallan

TrafficChallan is an independent reference site for Indian traffic e-challans. We explain what a fine actually costs under the Motor Vehicles Act, how the amount changes from state to state, and which official portal to use to check a challan or pay it. We built the site because the rules are scattered across parivahan.gov.in, a dozen state transport and police portals, and periodic gazette notifications — and most people just want a straight answer to "what will this cost me" or "where do I pay this."

What we are not

We are not a government website, and we are not run by or affiliated with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, any state police department, or any transport authority. We do not check the status of your challan against a live government database, and we never collect a payment from you. When it's time to actually check or pay a challan, every page on this site points you to the correct official portal — that's where the transaction happens, not here.

How we keep the facts straight

Every fine amount, section reference, and procedural step on this site is sourced to an official document — a government portal, a police department notice, or a gazette notification — and that source is linked on the page it appears on. Each page also carries a "last verified" date. We re-check every page against its sources on a rolling 90-day cycle, and our build process is set up to flag any page whose facts haven't been re-verified inside that window, so stale information doesn't sit published indefinitely. Fines change when states issue new notifications; when we find a change, we update the page and the date changes with it.

Who runs this

TrafficChallan is built and maintained by Team TrafficChallan. We don't publish under individual bylines because the site's job is to be a consistent, sourced reference — not a personal blog. If you spot something wrong, out of date, or missing, see our editorial policy or just contact us directly.

TrafficChallan.com is an independent information website, not affiliated with any government body. Challan payments happen only on official government portals we link to.
